a day in the life

Holding Court

We know the glasses take it to the brink of costume but we're just fine with that!  Halloween is just around the corner after all.  🎃👀🔮🍫👓  Didn't everyone who didn't have to wear glasses growing up want to wear glasses, or is it just us?

Patch It Up

We have a growing fixation with patches.  Yesterday's look wasn't quite a patch...but similar.  We see perhaps a patched jean in our near future?!  We'll mix some of these with some vintage finds for some very easy personalization.  Whimsical fun for the youthful creative of all ages.

White Stripes

It's all in how you look at it....black stripes or is it actually white stripes?  (We're getting deep here!)  1995 or 2015?  We're realizing quite a bit of 90's nostalgia has infiltrated our wardrobes.  Bodysuits, high-waisted boyfriend jeans, backpacks, flannel plaids, shirts tied around the waist, cork soled sandals...the list goes on.  This week we're paying a little homage to that crazy final decade of the the 20th century.

for the Littles:

  • American Apparel Striped Bodysuit
  • Denim Shorts (one of mom's designs from earlier in her career), similar Billabong Patches Short
  • DIY short options:  to get the right fit and wash cut off a true Boys Jean just below the knee and roll up, Stampendous Navy Jewel Glitter dusted over Fabric Glue that has been applied carefully with a paintbrush (apply coat of clear dry fabric glue on top of glitter once dry to seal the glitter), embellish with Dome Rivets/Studs or similar Ebay Chenille Number Patches and embellish with these Studs before applying patch to garment ***potential chocking hazard so only use for appropriate ages and make sure all studs are applied securely

Poncho and Go

This is the first of what will likely be many ponchos for us this year.  We'll need one with fringe for sure (shocker, we know), but that's a conversation for another day.  This one is our most recent DIY.  We purchased an adult wool based sweater at a second hand store, washed and dried the sweater (to felt the fibers a bit so we can cut it without securing the edges of the fabric) and cut it into a square shape just shy of the armhole seams and...voila ! We loved the reverse side of the fair isle with a blanket stripe vibe so today we we are actually wearing it inside out.  At some point we may add patch pockets to the front panel or tack the sides to create armholes.  It's so easy we could make 50 of these...and just might!

Let's Be Clear

Our clear frosted sunglasses have become our go-to, as we're sure you've noticed.  Is there anything more neutral and versatile than clear?  It seems we are not alone in our thinking...clear glasses frames are available in force!
